AP: Abbreviate St., Ave., and Blvd. with a numbered address.
Spell out other street indicators (Road, Drive, Terrace, Circle, etc.)

Directional indicators with streets

(CMS 10.35, AP: addresses)

CMS:

In running text, spell out North, South, East, and West, but abbreviate NW, NE, SW, and SE with no period.
In a mailing address, use a period with N., S., E., and W., but no period for NW, NE, SW, and SE.

Same rule if compass point comes after street.

We are on West Tenth Street.
We are at 120 West Tenth Street.
BUT Mail it to 120 W. 10th St., Dallas, TX 75208.

We are on SW Tenth Street.
We are at 120 SW Tenth Street.
BUT Mail it to 120 SW 10th St., Dallas, TX 75208.

We are on Tenth Street SW.
We are at 120 Tenth Street SW.
BUT Mail it to 120 10th St. SW, Dallas, TX 75208.

AP:

If no address number, spell out compass point.
With an address number, use periods for N., S., E., W., but no periods for NW, NE, SW, SE.
Same rule if compass point comes after street name.

We are on West 10th Street.
We are at 120 W. 10th St. 

We are on Southwest 10th Street.
We are at 120 SW 10th St.

We are on 10th Street Southwest.
We are at 120 10th St. SW.

(But remember to spell out numbered street names First through Ninth, and spell out indicators other than St., Ave., and Blvd.)

Both: Never abbreviate a street name that is named after a compass point: Southwest Blvd.

Highways and interstates

Use numerals. (CMS 9.51, AP 2017 highway designations). The inclusion of US/U.S., State Route, and other designations will vary by locality.
